In 1989, the boat named Rose Noelle sailed with four people from Picton, New Zealand to Tonga. After a terrible wave overturned the boat, they drifted for 119 days until they reached the Great Barrier Island. The 2015 film Abandoned was directed by director John Laing. The adventure, drama and thriller Abandoned movie starring Dominic Purcell was released on May 3, 2016.
