Cellular biology professor and veteran Lena explores the government-quarantined Area X with her husband Kane. After a short time, the researchers in the expedition team begin to notice the change in themselves. That same night, Anya falls into a psychotic state, attacking other team members. Meanwhile, Anya begins to hear the dying Cassie's cries for help. These sounds unfortunately come from the bear attacking his friends. Imitating Cassie's cries for help, the bear enters the house, killing Anya and attacking Lena. Lena, Ventress and Josie complete their expedition and leave the area. As she leaves the area, suddenly Josie expresses that she does not want to continue with them and begins to grow flowers on her body. After that, Josie moves away from Lena and disappears among the human-shaped plants. Lena then reaches the lighthouse. When he enters, he finds a burned corpse, a video camera and a hole in the ground. The video talks about Kane's change and the effect of Shimmer. The person in the video commits suicide with a grenade while telling Lena to find him. Then Doppelgänger's gaze appears. Lena goes downstairs through the hole in the floor after watching the video. There he sees Ventress, who has begun to mutate. He tells Lena that this extraordinary change will take over everything, just before he turns into a mutating being that will suck the blood from her face. Lena then attacks him and starts to run away. The entity that mirrors her movements and manages to stop her prevents Lena from escaping. As Lena awakens, she realizes that she is beginning to transform into a copy of the entity. However, he continues to struggle. It stops the presence with a phosphorescent grenade. With the disappearance of the flaming entity, the lighthouse and the surrounding structures disappear. The shimmer can no longer exert any effect. Lena's struggles are over. Kane quickly heals as Shimmet wears off. They are reunited with Lena's return. When they ask each other if you're real, Kane doesn't answer. When the two hug each other, lights come out of their eyes and they change color.
