Teen Will Burton is a reckless and antisocial teenager. All he thinks about is the rock music he listens to and wants to play. When his mother's new job moves to New Jersey, Will goes to a new school and gets on with his life. But the difference here can be an environment where he can be interested in music. While they may be very different from one of the most popular girls in school, their passion for rock music will bring them closer together. Meanwhile, Charlotte, whom Will met, will also contribute greatly to the formation of the group. There will be a lot of competition with other rock bands formed in school and there will be a lot of fun, sometimes dramatic but rock music moments.
