Mr. Freeze lives in the Arctic with his cryogenically frozen wife. When a submarine destroys his containment pod, he must find someone to "donate" a new heart for him. His research found a donor with the right blood type: Barbara (Batgirl) Gordon. His kidnapping sends Batman and Robin on a rushed chase to save him in time.
