Carrigan Crittenden learns during the reading of his father's will that all that remains of him is an old mansion in a quiet state. Hearing the rumor that there may be a hidden treasure buried in this house, the woman takes her attorney with her to visit the house. But when they arrive at the mansion with dreams of becoming rich, they encounter an unexpected surprise. The house has been taken over by the lonely and friendly ghost Casper and his evil uncles. The film was adapted for the big screen by director Brad Silberling, known for the movie City of Angels, from the Casper Cute Ghost cartoons series and comics.
