Correspondent Ernest Hemingway (Chris O'Donell) works as an ambulance driver in Italy during World War I. Risking his life on duty, he is shot and wakes up in the hospital. A passionate romance develops between them and their nanny Agnes von Kurowsky (Sandra Bullock). The film is adapted from von Kurowski's diaries.
