In the Name of the Father
(1993)In the Name of the Father 1993
Jerry Conlon, a naive Irish teenager with simple concerns, arrives in 1970s London. Lost in the flow of life, the young man begins to spend time here with the young people who live a free life in a squat house. He was arrested in a police raid after being convicted of the 1974 Guildford bombing, which had nothing to do with him. In England of that period, there was a practice in which human rights were ignored in the name of combating terrorism, very different from today. Under the pressure of intense physical and mental torture, Jerry's innocent father is also imprisoned in the autumn of his life as an accomplice. Jerry begins to fight against the injustice he has been subjected to over the years with the help of a female lawyer. We do not know how the political power of such events in many countries of the world was effective in giving 7 Oscars to this movie of Jim Sheridan; When two strong players like Daniel Day-Lewis and Emma Thompson come together, the impact cannot be underestimated.
