Mad to Be Normal tells the story of RD Laing, a renowned psychiatrist and one of Scotland's brightest minds. Working from Kingsley Hall in East London during the 1960s and 1970s, Laing conducted several daring experiments on people with mental illness. His revolutionary methods included experimenting with LSD on his patients, practicing a form of self-healing known as methanoia, causing anger and controversy in the medical profession, and radically changing attitudes and perceptions of mental health around the world. David Tennant and Michael Gambon play the lead roles in the 2018 British movie Mad to Be Normal.
