The 15th Ruler of the Korean Joseon Dynasty, King Gwang-hee asks him to find someone like him to prevent an assassination attempt on his advisor Heo Gyun. Heo Gyun finds Ha-sun, an acrobat who looks a lot like the king. Fears happen and Gwang-hee is poisoned. Heo Gyun offers Ha-sun to pretend to be the king until the king gets better. Ha-sun accepts this offer, but after a while begins to find solutions to the problems discussed in the palace. Taking more benevolent steps than Gwang-hee, Ha-sun's kindness even to the servants gradually changes the atmosphere of the palace. Finding her own voice in time, Ha-sun begins to take over the country's administration with true instincts and fair decisions. Even Heo Gyun is impressed by Ha-Sun's love and sincerity for the people and is convinced that she will make a better ruler than Gwang-hee. However, Heo Gyun's chief rival, Park Chung-seo, becomes suspicious of this sudden change in the king's behavior and begins to ask questions. The Queen is also suspicious of the secret between the real king and the fake king.
