Laure, who is trying to raise her children on the farm owned by her husband in Mississippi, is a stranger here and at the same time finds the environment in which she lives intimidating. While family troubles continue, two men return from the war to work as farm laborers, and Jamie Mcallan, his wife's brother-in-law, is a very handsome and attractive man. He returned from the war with Jamie in Ronsel and was rewarded as a war hero. These two people have seen the most brutal aspects of the war and another war is about to break out because of racism in their region.
