In the secluded glacier town of Barrow, Alaska, youths of Inyupik, Qalli and Aivaaq, grew up close to each other like brothers. Barrow is a town dominated by tradition and close-knit family relationships on the one hand, and the hometown of hip hop and snowmobiles on the other. While on a seal fishing trip with their friend James, an argument gets out of hand and James dies. Panicked, the duo lied and declared that his death was an accident. Barrow is mourned; Qalli's protective father becomes suspicious, while Qalli struggles with guilt. For the first time in his life, he is trying to walk alone on the thin ice of existence.
