Danish Karen Blixen ([i:5afab8926f]Meryl Streep[/i:5afab8926f]), Bror Blixen ([i:5afab8926f]Klaus Maria Brandauer[/i:5afab8926f]) to grow coffee in Africa after marriage. or gone. baroness settled. The year is 1913 and Africa is largely a colony of Europeans. Her husband's neglect and betrayal pushes Karen into perpetual loneliness. Meanwhile, she meets and falls in love with adventurous hunter Denis Finch Hatton ([i:5afab8926f]Robert Redford[/i:5afab8926f]). The novel of the same name on which the film is based was first published in 1937 by Danish Baroness Karen von Blixen-Fineke (she wrote the novel under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen). The book tells a love story set against the backdrop of relations between European settlers and indigenous tribes in Kenya, then in British East Africa, between 1914 and 1931.
