Sarah is a French astronaut trained by the European Space Agency in Cologne. She is the only woman in a painstaking program. She lives alone with her 8-year-old daughter Stella. Sarah feels guilty about not being able to spend any more time with her child. Her love is overwhelming and anxious. When Sarah is chosen to join the crew of a one-year space mission called Proxima, it causes confusion in the mother-daughter relationship.
