Red Rocket is described as a black comedy that follows 39-year-old Mikey Saber, who makes money from women in the porn film industry by being a kind of pimp. Unable to hold on in Los Angeles, Mikey decides to return to his hometown of Texas, where his estranged wife and mother-in-law live. Mikey is on the verge of making things right with his family, but meeting Strawberry, a young woman who works as a cashier at a donut shop, brings him back to his old job.
