Newly released from prison, Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck) decides to start a new life with the beautiful Ashley (Charlize Theron), whom he met and dreamed of through pen pals in prison. But that happiness is interrupted when Ashley's crazy brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise) and his dangerous friends plan to rob the casino where Rudy used to work. As Rudy tries to start a new and clean life, his criminal past is caught in the middle of a storm full of unexpected events. A greater danger awaits him if he cannot escape this game of death, love and blackmail with cunning.
