John Malkovich plays the role of retired horse breeder Lucien Laurin in the movie about the racehorse Secretariat, owned by Penny Chenery (Diane Lane), a 1973 three-time champion housewife who knows nothing about horse racing. Adapted entirely from a true story, the film tells the story of one woman's success in the male-dominated horse racing industry and an unbroken record for 25 years.
