Lee is a young woman with a casual relationship with her lover, Peter, and, in horizontal projection, a monotonous sex life. When Lee starts working for successful lawyer E. Edward Grey, his whole life will change and gain meaning. When the Lawyer's sadistic tendencies meet the young woman's masochistic tastes, it's like they've both found the playmate they've been looking for for years.
The film, which has an interesting story, won the 2002 Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Award for Original Screenplay and the 2002 Best Actress Award by The National Board of Review. The music of the interesting indie production is also by Angelo Badalamenti, the composer of the dark notes.
