A group of women living in Louisiana in the 1980s have some problems with their husbands. Some are dead, some are depressed, some are not even married yet. Thus, these women are increasingly drawn to the irresistible lure of gossip. Gossip is what these women do best. They find many things that they cannot find in other people outside, among themselves and in this small beauty salon.
