The Black Phone tells the story of a 13-year-old boy. Finney Shaw, a shy but intelligent boy, is detained in a soundproofed basement by a sadistic killer. Things change when the invisible phone on the wall starts ringing. Finney is able to hear the voices of the murderer's other victims via the phone. They are determined to make sure that what happens to them does not happen to Finney.
