Star faded singer/actor Frank Elgin thinks he's got a chance to get back to his heyday when theater director Bernie Dodd offers him the lead role in a new musical. However, after the death of his children, Frank is a man who took refuge in alcohol and lost his self-confidence. Bernie, on the other hand, thinks that Frank's insecurity is due to his wife, Georgie.
