The Departed

The Departed takes place in South Boston, where Massachusetts State Police launched a widespread struggle to bring down the city's largest crime organization. The aim is to end the domination of the powerful mafia boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) with an internal intervention. Young rookie Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio), who grew up in South Boston, is assigned to infiltrate Costello's gang. Another young policeman Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) from the streets of the "South Side" is quickly climbing the career steps in the state police, while Billy tries to gain Costello's trust. What their superiors don't know is that Colin works for Costello and makes the crime boss always one step ahead of the police. While both men are gathering information about the plans and counter plans of the organization they infiltrate, they are having a hard time because of their double lives. But when both gangsters and cops understand that there is a mole between them, Billy and Colin will be constantly in danger of being caught by the enemy.
