The Painted Veil

Based on Somerset Maugham's classic novel The Painted Veil, the film is about a love story between a young British couple in the 1920s. Kitty, a senior woman, married Walter, a middle-class doctor, for the wrong reasons. The couple goes to Shanghai, and the young woman has an affair. When Walter finds out about his wife's infidelity, he accepts a job offer from a remote town in China, where a deadly epidemic is on the verge of revenge, and takes his wife with him. Thanks to their journey, their relationship becomes meaningful and they acquire a common purpose in one of the most remote but beautiful places of the world.
