The Woman King 2022
The Woman King tells a story inspired by real events that took place in the Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most important and powerful regions of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. Viola Davis stars as Namisca, the general of an all-female warrior community known as the “Amazons of Dahomey”, and will center around their struggle to protect African lands from white invaders who want to destroy their way of life and ultimately uproot them. Warriors will not be intimidated, they will push themselves to the extreme to protect their families and homeland.
