The Yearling 1946

Penny Baxter, one of the rebel soldiers after the American Civil War, was one of the first to settle in Florida with her husband Orry and 12-year-old son Jody. The Baxter couple, who previously lost two of their children, caused Orry to take a harder look at life. On the other hand, Penny and her son are more warm and loving. Adapted from the novel by Pulitzer Prize winner Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, the film is about the strong friendship of 12-year-old Jody, who lives with her poor family in Florida. Everglades with deer. The movie takes place after the American Civil War. The fact that director Rod Hardy captures the historical and social panorama of the period with a successful cinematic language shows that he is largely faithful to the main themes and essence of the novel. The outstanding performance of the film's minor hero, Jarman, was awarded a special "Oscar" for best child role.
