(2017)Tom of Finland 2017
Bringing the real life story of painter Touko Laaksanon, who creates gay icons under the pseudonym Tom of Finland, the film won the FIPRESCI award at the Gothenburg Film Festival, where it was screened last January. “Tom of Finland”, whose screenplay was written by Aleksi Bardi, tells a love story of the years when the gay community struggled for equal human rights on a global scale. Laaksanon, whose life changed after World War II to entertain his friends in Finland and make fun of the homophobic society in the country, became extremely popular in Los Angeles, transforms into an iconic personality. Pekka Strang plays the leading role in the movie.
