Trials progress at Wakefield Penitentiary in Arkansas. The irreversible links of this chain of negativity, the smallest of which begins with bribery, are torture, murder, corruption, sexual harassment, etc. Idealistic Henry Brubaker (Robert Redford) is appointed prison warden. However, instead of continuing his mission as usual, he enters disguised as a prisoner and wants to see things with his own eyes. Brubaker, whose efforts to protect human rights found support among detainees, became the target of the prison administration and the governor.
