A detective from Chicago embarks on a journey to Scotland when he discovers that a new serial killer's pattern of crimes mirrors those he had previously investigated. Among the cases haunting him is the brutal murder of his girlfriend. As he delves deeper into the investigation, old wounds are reopened and he must confront his past in order to catch the killer before more lives are lost.
