Los Angeles-based journalist Irwin Fletcher (Chevy Chase), also known as the "spy detective," is a dedicated, good-natured journalist working for truth and justice. He pulled the strings of many people with the countless columns he wrote and made great efforts to convict the criminals. Now a drug investigator, Irwin changes his identity to track the drug trade. During his mission, he meets Stanwyck, who is sentenced to death from bone cancer. Stanwyck asks Fletch to kill him... You have no idea how many personalities this "mad detective" has.
