Godforsaken Place builds on Iceland's unique nature as one of the boldest films to be screened at Cannes this year. The film, which deals with the concepts of faith, death, nature, family, time and morality, tells how he opposed nature and the islanders by a Danish priest who came to Iceland to build a church in the 19th century. He moved away from his original intentions, from his own moral and humanistic ideals. Khvitur Dagur/White Day, the latest film by Hlinur Palmason, the creative and versatile director of Winterbrodre/Winter Brothers and Khvitur, was screened in Cannes as part of the Un Certain Regard programme. "In death you can see life itself," Palmason said. "I was shocked to learn that death can actually hold us together. That's the heart of the movie, that's its heart."
