Goldeneye, the seventeenth Bond film based on the novel by Ian Fleming, is directed by Martin Campbell, with Pierce Brosnan, the fifth actor to play James Bond, in the lead role. This time we see master actor Sean Bean as Bond's enemy. Generals Umurov (Gottfried John) and Xenia (Famke Janssen) captured the prototype of a very powerful helicopter that killed everyone at a secret radar base in Russia. James Bond, the only survivor of this secret base, will take action to stop the duo, who have seized a top secret weapon called the Goldeneye. But at the helm is a former MI5 agent, Alec Trevelyan, determined to use this weapon against his country that has turned against him. Goldeneye, a Bond film not directed by a British director for the first time until 1995, made a historic decision among Bond films when a "woman" (Judi Dench) played the role of "M" for the first time. . Although "Tina Turner" sang the traditional Bond song this time, the film received BAFTA nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.
