Elwood P. Dowd lives with his older sister Veta and niece Myrtle, who moved into the house after her mother's death. Veta is looking for a suitable groom for her daughter; However, the unattractive Myrtle can't date anyone because people don't like her uncle's quirks. This is because Elwood lives with an imaginary friend named Harvey, whom he says is a six-inch-long white rabbit with a fart that no one else can see. Whenever his brother Vita invites someone to the house, Elwood tries to introduce the guests to Harvey and lets in those who find it interesting. Elwood's whole life consists of going to the same bar every day with his friend Harvey, chatting with the bar residents who are used to him and Harvey, and drinking margaritas. However, Elwood doesn't understand that people are looking at him like he's crazy. With all her good intentions, she tries to help people by talking and listening to them." Instead, he hospitalizes Veta. Barely escaping, Vita and the doctors behind him race to chase after Elwood. Meanwhile, anyone who creates a situation that upsets Edwood will not be able to escape Harvey's punishment, which no one believes and sees.
