Award-winning and successful architect Vincent Eastman (Richard Gere) is in turmoil in his private life. After breaking up with his beautiful but cold wife (Sharon Stone), Vincent starts a relationship with a passionate and vibrant writer that he sees as a fresh start. But Vincent is emotionally torn between his future happiness and his 13-year-old daughter with a past. Relationship problems begin to arise and Vincent must make a fateful decision, face his true feelings, decide which side of the line to take.
