Kundun 1997

Master director Martin Scorsese, who knows America's dark corners and wildlife very well, travels from west to east, this time to Tibet, and tries to explain a foreign culture to him with the help of Kundun, which he filmed without the participation of Western actors. This is a movie about a Tibetan "being" called Kundun, who is believed to be constantly changing bodies through reincarnation of a spiritual leader, whom Buddhists believe is a reflection of Buddha on earth. After the death of the 13th Dalai Lama, it all started with the discovery of a small boy whom the priests believed to be the bearer of this holy leader's spirit. We go back to 1957 when the 14th Dalai Lama, or Kundun, who was considered a "holy spirit" at the age of two, grew up in a Buddhist monastery and was educated by monks and went into exile from his occupied country.
