Narcissus and Goldmund Young Goldmund is sent by his father to study at the convent in Mariabronn. His path crosses with Narcissus, one of the students there. Narcissus is devoted with his whole body and heart to life in the monastery, and Goldmund first tries to imitate him. An unlikely friendship will soon sprout between the two, but their friendship is put to the ultimate test when Goldmund soon discovers that this lifestyle just doesn't suit her.
