The film begins in 1943 with the North African Front of the Second World War. The famous German Field Marshal Rommel (Karl Michael Vogler), nicknamed Desert Tiki, meets Tank General George S. Patton, Jr., one of the most eccentric commanders in war history. (George S. Scott). Knowing the history of war as well as his military genius, Patton has read Rommel's books and uses his tactics to drive "desert foxes" out of North Africa. After this success, he was promoted to lieutenant general and sent to Sicily. Another famous commander is in competition with the English Marshal Montgomery (Michael Bates). Due to his obsession with discipline, he becomes a coward on a hospital trip, jeopardizing his career when he slaps and publicly insults a sick soldier he blames.
