Post Mortem is a film nominated by Hungary for the Best International Feature Film category at the 94th Academy Awards. Set in 1918, towards the end of the First World War, the film tells the story of German soldier Thomas (Viktor Klem). Thought to have died in the explosion, Thomas is left in a mass grave, but is removed from the bodies by another soldier. Thomas is brought back to life by the orphaned Anna. Thomas follows Anna, hit by the Spanish flu, and reaches the village. The victims of the pandemic cannot be buried because the ground is frozen and the village offers the autopsy photographer an eerie environment where the dead and the living coexist, where mourning is suspended.
