Peter Bowman is an American engineer. While working on a dam project in South America, the guerrillas kidnap him into the jungle. Upon learning of Bowman's abduction, his wife Alice hires Terry Thorne, an experienced lifeguard and hostage negotiator, to save her husband. Thorne negotiates a ransom to save Peter Bowman, but it fails. Upon this, Thorne decides to save Bowman from the partisans by organizing an operation in the forest. While these events are happening, a love affair begins between Alice and Terry.
