On the one hand - a murderer on the run, on the other - Sheriff John T. Change and his two assistants, one drunk and the other disabled. Sheriff John T. Chance and his two deputies investigate murders in the city. But he gets into trouble when one of his assistants is very young and the other is an alcoholic. In a small American town, Sheriff John T. Chance arrests the son of one of the most influential people in the county for murder. A wealthy landowner sends his men to save his son. The entire city is under siege, with the alcoholic Dude and Colorado Ryan, a former deputy sheriff, defending the sheriff. The whole city is with him to help the sheriff.
