The film became the highest-grossing romantic comedy ever made in the United States. Ike Graham is a New York journalist who is in serious trouble. His boss is his ex-wife, he has lost the inspiration to write and has to write an article very soon. Ike hears news about Maggie Carpenter, who is often busy in her Maryland town but always avoids her weddings, and decides to write an article about her.
