At 2020, Elias van Dorne (John Cusack), CEO of VA Industries, the world's largest robotics company, introduced his most powerful invention, Kronos, one of the most supercomputers designed to end all wars. When Kronos goes online, he finds that humanity itself is the greatest threat to world peace, launching a worldwide robot attack aimed at ridding the world of human "infection". 97 years later, a small group of humans remains alive but escapes the army of robots. A teenage boy Andrew (Julian Schaffner) and teenage girl Calia (Jeannine Wacker) form an unlikely alliance to reach a new world where humanity is said to exist without fear of robot tyranny.
