Sunset Blvd. 1950

The film begins with the young screenwriter Joe Gillis lying face down in blood, while the narrator Joe takes us back six months. Joe's financial situation worsens as he can't sell his scripts or borrow money from anyone, and he's in trouble with old debts. He takes refuge in a house on Sunset Boulevard, fleeing from creditors who want his car back for debt. The owner of the house is Norma Desmond, one of the famous actresses of the silent cinema era. Thinking that she can return to her former glory immediately, Norma is preparing to return to the world of cinema with a script she wrote. When Joe tells him she can help him write the script, Norma lets him live in the house and soon falls in love with him...
