Suspiria
(1977)Suspiria 1977
The first of Argento's trilogy of Le Tre madri (The Three Mothers), the film tells the story of evil forces trying to attack and ruthlessly harm the world. The second film in the trilogy is Hell from the 1980s, and the last one is La Terza madre from 2007. Suspiria is considered Argento's best film and one of the classics of horror cinema. This film is also the last film produced using this technology shortly before the Technicolor recycling plant closed. The film begins with the American ballet student Susie Banyon going to Germany to study at a famous dance school. On her way to school in heavy rain, Susie first sees a student running from school talking about strange things. Later, the school door closes and although Susie introduces herself, the man behind the door does not let her in. While Susie spends the night in a nearby town, a school truant and her refugee friend are brutally murdered that night. Suzy, who manages to go to school the next day, starts to study, but is impressed by the crystal in the hand of one of the women working at the school and faints during the lesson. On the advice of the school doctor, he follows a strict diet and eats alone in his room. Meanwhile, strange things begin to happen at school, and Susie, who has always been weak and sleepy, can barely watch. After the school's blind pianist is killed by her guide dog, Susie and her friend Sarah try to solve the school's mystery in the next room. But one evening, when Susie becomes too weak again, Sarah dies while trying to understand the secrets of the teachers at the school. The next day, Sarah is said to have left school suddenly and for no reason that morning. Trying to find Sarah, Susie reaches her friend's psychiatrist and learns that Sarah has been possessed by witchcraft. In addition, there was a woman who was killed for being a witch years ago at the school they attended. In addition, Susie finds a secret section in the school, using the words she remembers from the delusions of a school runaway student she met on the first evening, and she guesses that the teachers perform witchcraft rituals there at night. Susie, who accidentally kills the head witch "Mater Suspiriorum" she encounters in the room she enters, flees to escape the collapsing school.
