The majestic and prosperous paradise of the South Pacific is clearly described in Henry Devere Stackpoole's 1903 novel. Two young children and the ship's captain are the only shipwrecked survivors who managed to land safely on a tropical island. After a while, the captain dies and the children are left alone. Days chase days and years pass. Emmaline (Brooke Shields) and Richard (Christopher Atkins) grow up in the house they built for themselves, surrounded by exotic nature and natural beauty. they learn to cope on their own with the physical and emotional changes that come with adulthood. When they start to mature, their childhood love for each other gives way to an emotional and deep love. and they have children. Will they be able to see civilization again?
