Lillian Hellman's successful 1934 Broadway play of the same name tells the story of the struggle for the honor of two girls' school teachers accused of lesbianism by their students. The play, which was quite controversial for its time, was adapted twice by William Wyler. Because the first film adaptation did not satisfy the director due to the intervention of the Hollywood censor of that period named William Hayes. While the bureau warns against referring to the game in promotions, it also wants the name of the movie to be changed. Announcing 25 years later that "Mrs. Hellman's play has not yet been adapted for the cinema," director Wyler makes another attempt. Wyler does his best to stay true to the original script, this time bringing together two star actors (Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine). Questioning the consequences of an unfair accusation and social prejudice, Dangerous Whisper is still relevant today. Recall that the performance, which has become a modern classic, was recently re-enacted in the UK, this time with Keira Knightley and Elisabeth Moss.
