British Army officer Jody is kidnapped by the IRA, who wants to use him for political purposes. A gunman named Fergus is assigned to watch over Jody. These two so-called enemies soon form their own friendship. With a high probability of being killed, Jodie takes Fergus' promise to take care of her if her girlfriend dies. During the intervention of the security forces, Jodie dies after being hit by a military vehicle. Running and hiding, Fergus starts making money in London; but he can't get Jody out of his mind. He finally wants to keep his promise to Jodie and find his girlfriend Dil.
