The Great Escape
(1963)The Great Escape 1963
Stalag Luft III, II. It was a prison camp captured by the German Air Force during World War II. The most important feature of this camp was that it consisted of people trying to escape and that strict security measures were taken to prevent escape. Even the place where the camp was set up to prevent escape was an unsuitable place for tunneling near Poland. However, for the two prisoners, this background was well known and the escape took place. The escape was meant to be the prey of Gestapo agents (Geheime Staatspolizei - Secret State Police), and 50 fugitives were captured and killed by the Gestapo on Hitler's direct orders. Such a historical event is recorded in the book The Great Escape, written by Paul Brickhill, who was in prison but did not participate in the mass escape. The movie The Great Escape was inspired by the 1963 book. The American-made film is approaching three hours (172 minutes) in length. It is noteworthy that the effort spent on the rather old film is great.
