Santa María del Mar is known as a small island that relies on fishing for its livelihood. With industrialization, the islanders start to feel that their means of living are being taken away from them. However, they will not lose hope, as their fate could change with the opening of a fish packaging plant in the town. All they need is for a doctor to come to the island. The townspeople, led by their leader Germán, take action and try to convince Mateo, a doctor who lives on the island, to join them. Mateo is shocked by this offer. He learns that football is a local sport here and discovers that his favorite Indian dish is a Santa María classic. Germán and the townspeople do everything they can to impress Mateo and revitalize Santa María del Mar.
