The early 1950s... During the Cold War, anti-communist movements reached their peak. Peter is a screenwriter working with one of the major studios these days when Hollywood is in its golden age and is getting better. But a communist meeting he attends while at university gets him in trouble. He learns that he has been blacklisted and will be caught. His career is over before it even started. He flies off the bridge in his car, very drunk. Losing his memory, Peter finds himself in a city he never knew. What's interesting is that everyone here thinks he's Luke Trimble, who is believed to have died in operation 9.5 years ago. Because Peter has lost his memory, he also believes that he is what the townspeople think. Falling in love with a local woman, a young man sets out to reopen a long-closed theater called Majestic. Meanwhile, Peter's memory slowly comes back and the committee follows him.
