Sheriff Howard Cap searches for an infamous killer. Wherever he goes, other bounty hunters follow him to catch this killer, who has been given a huge bounty. After a long struggle, the sheriff catches the killer. But they still have a long way to go, and more and more people are after the prize. Starring James Stewart in one of his darkest and best roles, the film is best known as a western by Anthony Mann and James Stewart. There are only five characters in the movie, and each is fully formed, free of clichés. The role of rogue killer Robert Ryan is great.
